Flight of the Conchords!

Sponsor me on Virgin Money GivingI thought I'd upload some photo's of a recent trip I've taken to give you an idea of what it's all about!

One of the biggest obstacles on my adventure to Morocco will be getting across the Pyrenees mountains:

The Pyrenees form a natural border between Spain and France, and extend for some 270 miles - coast to coast - up to a height of 11,168 feet.

The difficulties associated with flight over mountainous terrain is the fast-moving temperamental weather systems and lack of possible landing fields in the event of an emergency, or diversion, particularly when flying a single engined aircraft close to it's maximum altitude.

With this in mind I felt it necessary to get a feel of what it's all about so I took a trip over to the Lake District, in the UK - Wow!

Climbing up above the clouds
Clear skies
Not much room between the peaks and cloud base, weather closing in.
Best return home
The sea of tranquility - good night!

Back up and running!

Finally! All the formalities are just about complete regarding training so we're back on track - albeit a little behind schedule.

Over the next few months I'll be completing several cross country flights to get an idea of the typical fuel consumption, performance and range of the aircraft I'll be flying.

Piper Warrior II Touring Aircraft

The aircraft will be a Piper Warrior II touring aircraft, abbreviated to: 'Pa 28-161'.

Typically it has a cruising speed of between 124 - 135 mph, a range of 600 miles and can climb up to 14000ft.

It can carry up to 3 passengers, including baggage or equipment, one pilot and a partridge in a pear tree.

I'll inaugurate my fundraising campaign during this time; I intend to complete a number of challenging events over the coming months as part of my efforts, you can sponsor simply by visiting my fundraising page and following the instructions.
